Obtaining a Driving Licence C+E
Driving licence C+E is the most comprehensive HGV licence you can obtain. This license permits you to drive an HGV that has trailers or semi-trailers that weigh more than 750 kg.
The instruction for Category CE is an obvious progression from the training that leads to Category C. It involves driving on roads with various traffic densities and on training tracks.
Requirements
A driving license is a valid document that proves that the driver has fulfilled all legal requirements to drive. The requirements for driving vary from country to country, but the majority include passing an exam and not having a convictions for traffic violations. The tests are usually divided into practice and theory but there are some exceptions to this rule. The first step to obtaining the license is to take the driving course and pass the theory test. The driver must also be physically fit to drive. Some countries require evidence of this, such as an examination for medical reasons.
The next step is to get a Category C license, also known as a Car Driver's License. This allows you to drive passenger vehicles, trucks and trailers with a maximum weight of 7.5 tonnes. If you already have a Cat C licence, you can upgrade to a Cat C + E licence, which allows you to drive articulated heavy-goods vehicles up to 44 tonnes.
You must be at least 21 years old to be eligible for a Category C license. This is the minimum requirement. However, you may be able obtain one earlier if already completed or are currently undergoing training required for the Driver Certificate of Professional Competence. You must also hold a full driving licence to be eligible for the category C+E license.
The C+E driving license is the highest category of hgv available. It combines the categories C and E, and is the most comprehensive hgv driving licence you can obtain. You must have a Category C licence to be eligible for the C+E licence, and you must be capable of passing an examination for medical and a practical driving exam.
You also must be able to pass a medical exam and an eye test. Training
You can learn how to drive trucks on the job. Many companies offer full driver training courses. The written and oral examinations are designed to be as authentic as possible. Examiners may deny your license in certain circumstances. These include: when you drove in a reckless manner during the test and/or involved in a crash or if you violated any traffic rules, laws or regulations or if your vehicle was unsafe. You will be required to take your test again and pay additional fees if you broke any traffic laws, rules or regulations.
Medical examination
In order to be able drive a truck in the EU, one must undergo an examination for medical reasons. A doctor will examine the eyesight of the driver and his general health. A driver with medical certification is issued C+E driving license which is valid for 5 years. After that, the license will be renewed every year.
You must pass two tests in order to pass the driving test. One test is a theoretical test, while the other is a test that you can practice. Some commenters have questioned the use of the phrase "not-certified." The final rule employs the term "not-certified" to make clear that an CDL driver does not have medical qualifications. This language makes it clear that the driver's privileges to drive are not being taken away because of FMCSA's adverse actions. The final rule requires that the State-designated licensure authority (SDLA) publish the medical certification status of the CDL Holder on their CDLIS driver record. This will help prevent false and fraudulent claims that the driver is medically certified even though the driver is not. The SDLA will be required to include the contact details of the ME who performed the medical exam on the driver's record, to further discourage fraud. This requirement will remain in effect until FMCSA issues new rules to solve this issue. In the meantime, motor companies can continue to maintain the original or a copy the medical examiner's report in their driver qualifications files to prove that the driver is medically qualified provided that the carrier can demonstrate the receipt date of the certificate from the ME.
